any specific reason why?
I'm using my own mailer and never got a rejection because of the
message id. Just for receipients on t-online I use the smtp server for
my t-dsl as a relay. Still no problem with my ids.

So what. The only way a conflict could happen would be if someone else
had a similar email name (like "peter@xxx.yy" and "hans-peter@xxx.yy")
and the algorithm used by "peter" just happens to produce the same
unique local id with an additional "hans-" appended. Not very likely.
;-)
What is the worst that could happen in this unlikely case? One mail
might be rejected because of duplicate ids. Or a mail program that
supports navigation by message threading (which I sincerely hope PMMail
will in the future ...) might get slightly confused, if both messages
have the same receipient.

Nobody is perfect. ;-)
