You're confusing the functions of the road and the car here. One
enables you to move from A to B, the other allows you to listen to the
radio and carry suitcases while you're doing it.

SMTP is not a network function, it's a function of the Mail Transport
Agents that use the network. The fault lies with the people who will
not provide the correct defaults in their programs, and users who will
not listen to good advice.

My view of people without interest (knowledge can be gained, all of us
have less time than we'd like) is that selective evolution is still
working. If you don't learn that you can't step in front of a speeding
car, your genes will be removed from the gene pool if you do so.
