Each message grows by X bytes.  

It takes an average of Y milliwatts of electricity to deliver
one byte of email.

Z can equal the average number of emails transmitted per hour,
worldwide.

According to the US Department of energy:

1.341 pounds of CO2 are emitted  each Kilowatt-hour of
electricity generated in the US.

So HTML email produces (((X*Y*Z)/10^6)*1.341) extra pounds of
CO2 in the acmosphere each hour of each day.  I cannot find a
definitive resource for the exact effect of those extra pounds
of CO2 on actual global warming.
