For experience with PMMail, I started with the first PMMail for OS/2 also
but I have not switched from PMMail or OS/2 as my primary o/s. As far as
longevity or experience is concerned, lets just say mine predates the
network (internet) becoming the public forum it is today. I don't consider
this as giving me /seniority/ in this mailing list forum. Each member is
equal here and each can choose to give whatever weight they want to my
comments. I reserve the same right.

I really don't know what assumptions you are referring to here. I agree
that civility could improve in this forum. My comments, if provided at
all, are generally focused on the issue. My comments range from positive
to negative depending on what is offered. I give preference to fixing
existing functionality problems then to feature requests that cannot be
performed using existing functions and finally to convenience requests
(functionality that exists but the author thinks it should be implemented
differently).

OK but you could direct them at me if you wish. I prefer to receive an
off-list response if you feel I have been rude to you. A good rule to
follow is not to offer criticism if you are unwilling to accept criticism.
AFAIC, I am not offended by your comments. We can agree to disagree.

FWIW, I prefer limited quoting before commentary. I know this is only a
convention and not a standard. IMO, email is written communication similar
to a letter. I don't quote an entire letter when replying to it. I don't
put quotations after my signature on the letter. One thing that annoys me
is receiving an email commentary with the replied to message as an
attachment. If I had implemented this feature, I would have implemented
highlighted quoting only. No highlighting - no quoting. This would have
eliminated the need for a selection to turn quoting on or off. I also know
that PMMail followed most other mail clients by implementing automatic
default quoting of the entire message. I control my system. I have a
delete key. If a message is not clear, concise, and easily followed, it is
generally deleted.
