Privacy from whom?

No, because I don't see the connection between targeted banner ads on
the web and government propaganda unencumbered by free speech, a free
press and the ACLU.  If anything, the web has made the kind of
information manipulation control that made Hitler possible far more
unlikely.  And besides, what the hell does any of that have to do with
privacy?  A much better example would have been post WWII East Germany
- now there was a society that didn't place any value its citizens'
privacy!  Ironically, they are also an excellent example of government
control undone by the free flow of information.

Please don't misunderstand me.  I absolutely value my privacy but it is
not something I obsess over.  If I want to send someone something in
absolute confidence that I am afraid might be compromised by having my
email intercepted, I simply choose another method.  Same thing goes for
faxes or phone calls - I don't have a scrambler on either of them,
either.
